Grumpy

I hate, hate, hate politics and I can't wait until this whole waking nightware is over. I'm tired of the candidate's ugly attacks on each other. I'm tired of having to choose whether I want to watch news about the election or our faltering economy. But mostly? I'm tired of the endless recorded phone calls I get every day that only contain more mudslinging while reminding to me vote next week. I already did - now leave me alone!!

Okay, rant over. *sigh* Thanks for letting me vent.

I think I'm gonna make chicken noodle soup for supper tonight. Comfort food sounds good right about now.

Political Funny

click the picture for JibJab '08

You may or may not have noticed, but I generally don't talk politics on my web page or my blog. Because I prefer not to have people beat me in the head with their beliefs and I assume that most everyone feels the same way, I refrain from using my business as a bully pulpit. My attitude has always been that as long as you're voting - regardless of WHO you vote for, we're cool. While I might not agree with you, I absolutely respect your right to choose.

All that said, I had to post the above link to JibJab's satirical election cartoon. Tilly saw it at school and told me about it (they're closely following both candidates' campaigns and the election process in her social studies class.). I wanted to share it because: 1. I think it's funny. 2. I feel as though it skewers all candidates equally. 3. I've got this song running on a continuous loop in my head and I think you should too! *wink*

Columbus Day

Yeesh! That cartoon sounds like the inside of our car whenever we try to take the kids anywhere. We went to the Etowah Indian Mounds in Cartersville, GA last Sunday (It was an optional extra credit trip for Tilly's Social Studies class.) and being stuck in the car with them on the way up there was almost painful. Of course, going home was much better because we (being not so proud as to be above bribery) stopped at the gift shop on the way out and bought them all souveniers!

Anyway, enjoy your Columbus Day holiday! I'm heading off to work now...

Busy Creating...and Watching Movies!

I like to watch movies and tv shows when I'm in the studio, it helps keep my imagination busy when I'm on autopilot making beads. Yesterday, I started watching the BBC series Doctor Who, Season 1. Finished disc 1 yesterday, and can I just say: I've seen him in movies before, but I never thought of Christopher Eccleston as a particularly attractive man. You know what? He kinda is! At least as that character... Anyway, 3 episodes down with more discs on the way.

Something else I watched yesterday, but didn't like was Gone With The Wind. I know, I know - it surprised me, too! I thought Scarlett was a complete twerp who didn't deserve Rhett at all. And I thought Clark Gable was waaaaaaaay too old to play the part of Rhett, although he did a good job. Ashley was pug-ugly (sorry Kate!) and a complete pansy-ass. Plus, Prissy was so annoying that I wanted to smack her myself - ditto Aunt PittyPat. Yuck! The only characters I really liked were Mammy, Melanie and Belle Watling.

For a movie that is supposed to be the essence of all-things Southern, can I just say "blech!"? Kate suggested that I read the book and see if I liked that any better. Maybe I will this winter - if I get bored.
